Hello Tech Rocketeers!
We are excited about this new feature on Tech Rocket because it will improve your experience as a user
Tech Rocket has officially implemented Live Coaches (Woo!) We understand that some of our courses can be difficult and you may be stuck on a question, or installation process (cough cough Minecraft) and sometimes (or most) it’s frustrating waiting for a response on the forums. This is where the Live Coaches come in! You can now receive immediate assistance within the course you are taking starting NOW!
Live Coaches will be available to provide 1-on-1 help and answer any questions you need in regards to the course. Stuck on a code challenge? They got it. Forge not working? No worries! Evil alien monster taking over the world? No prob…. well, you may be on your own there.
So how do you contact a coach? Well…
You enter a course
and on the bottom left hand corner you will see a blue pop-up chat and you can immediately begin your chat with the coach! The coach will work with you on whatever you’re stuck on. The coach will already know your username, the course you’re on, and the level/chapter you’re stuck on. BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE! Coaches (with permission) can also send you files, audio/video chat with you, and they can even set up a way to see your screen!
Here is a quick run-down on what the Live Coach is used for:
- Answer Questions
- Resolve Installation Issues
- Provide audio/video chat
- Provide project files if needed
- Show you how to navigate the UI
Here is what they are NOT used for:
Live Instruction. Coaches are not here to teach you code/game design etc. They are available to you if you need help with a course, at the very minimum, they can explain concepts to you that are discussed in the course. If you are curious about other concepts that aren’t discussed in the course, you can post them here on the forums and one of the instructors or community can give a brief explanation.
Account Issues. Coaches are not to be used to resolve account problems. If you can’t login, problem with billing, Upgrade/Refund/Cancellations, etc. you can contact our Customer Service at 1-844-662-RCKT (7258)
It’s also important to note that coaches are NOT available 24/7. The chat will let you know if a coach is online. If a coach is not online it will say “Need Help? Leave us a message!”, and you can leave a message and the coach will send you an answer as soon as they sign-on. We haven’t set a definitive time for the coaches as of yet, but you can get in touch with a coach primarily between the following times:
Monday - Thursday 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM PST
Friday: 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM PST
***NOTE: Days/Times are tentative and are subject to change.**
“But wait dEBug what about the forums?” GREAT QUESTION! Glad you asked. Forums will be used for what they are intended to be used for. We want the forums to be used for general conversation, announcements, tech talks, contests, gaming contest, coding contest, or what great games are coming out. Forums will be the place where you can connect with the Tech Rocket staff and ask us questions! Like what’s my favorite ice cream (I’m a fan of Snickerdoodle)
Forums will no longer be used to get you unstuck on courses. This doesn’t mean you can’t ask a question regarding the course, you can still ask questions if you want something to be further explained or maybe ideas of projects with what you learned, but code challenges, forge/minecraft installations, and etc. can be taken care of via the Live Tech Coach. They are there to help ya, so use them!
